Having received its original popularity in the 1950s, the square cut swimsuit design has re-emerged as a viable alternative to conventional swim briefs. The square cut design fits somewhere between traditional swim trunks and swim briefs. The cut features a tighter fit than swim trunks, but the legs come down further and are cut straight to provide a square cut over the thighs. The 1950s style was looser and didn’t emphasize the male parts. Today’s square cut styles are more up to date, and many designs offer a revealing style.
